One day of “In-Memory Technologies in SQL Server”

It is no secret that I have been very active in the Asian region the last years – mainly in Singapore, Malaysia and India. So, it may not be a surprise that this summer I will be giving a full day PreCon at the now called “Data Platform Summit” in India’s hub for information technology: […]

What makes a successful Tech Conference?

After my Asia-tour this summer I feel it is about time for this article. At the time of this article (09-2016) I have presented at more than 50 technical conferences around the world (Europe, Middle East, Asia, North America), from small with about 150 attendees to huge with around 5000 attendees. With that came a […]

Conferences in SQL Server summer 2016

It feels like I have just been back from the SQLBits XV in Liverpool, where I introduced the Security Features of the SQL Server 2016 (SQL Server 2016 – Security Obscurity and Encryption), and next thing I know, I am already in the middle of planning the next SQL Server Master-Class on High Availability with […]

Sarpedon Quality Lab presenting SQL Server 2016 In-Memory and Security Features in Arabia at SQL Gulf 3

مرحبا (“MARR-hah-bah”, Arabic: Hello) This year takes me to yet another part of the world: I have been invited to speak at THE SQL Server Conference in the Middle East: at SQL Gulf 3 taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on April 23rd.

Sessions submitted for major conferences 2016. Topics: Security – Performance – In-Memory

After the great success of the German SQLKonferenz in February, where I had the honor of presenting the new security features of SQL Server 2016 together with Joachim Hammer, the Program Manager of the security teams of the relational SQL Engines at Microsoft in Redmond (more info), I finally found time to go about the […]

My conference sessions in 2015: from Extended Events over In-Memory to Security

Finally I get to write about my conference-talks in 2015. The year started really great with the German SQL Server Konferenz in Darmstadt with 2 sessions on In-Memory OLTP in SQL Server 2014 – one of them being even a full-day PreCon, which I co-presented with Niko Neugebauer, who was talking about Clustered ColumnStore Indexes.

Upcoming conferences end of 2014: Microsoft Technical Server Summit, MVP Summit, PASS Summit, Microsoft Technical Summit

The end of year is approaching fast. For the next three months, several conferences are scheduled. After the introduction of SQL Server 2014 at the BASTA in September in Mainz/Germany, I am continuing in October with a presentation on New Storage-Types in SQL Server 2014 at the Microsoft Technical Server Summit Düsseldorf/Germany:

Received MVP Award for SQL Server

Yesterday, on 1 April 2014, I got great news: I was awarded the MVP Award by Microsoft (MVP=Most Valuable Professional) for my contributions to the community (click here for MVP profile).

Upcoming Conferences: SQLSaturdays in Denmark and Portugal.

In March and April, 2 European SQLSaturdays take place, which have the potential for a real insiders’ tip: On March 29th in Copenhagen, Danmark and April 12th in Lisbon, Portugal. Since I already participated as a speaker in Copenhagen last year, I can avouch from “insider information” for the excellent organization and speaker choice.

Where are the scripts to the session „SQL Attacked/Hacking SQL Server“ ? ;-)

Subsequent to the lectures from my “Hacking SQL Server” series “Security Session „SQL Attack..ed“ – Attack scenarios on SQL Server (“Hacking SQL Server”)” which I have already given at the SQLSaturdays Rheinland, Istanbul, at the SQLRAlly Amsterdam and at many regional groups of PASS Germany, more often than not the question arises whether I make […]
